Reflections 5 is part of an ongoing series of porcelain wall sculptures exploring light, rhythm and the meditative process of repetition. Thousands of individually hand-formed porcelain elements are meticulously shaped, fired and placed by hand, each angled with intention to create a surface that quietly responds to its surroundings.
Crafted from pure white unglazed porcelain, the sculpture possesses a remarkably soft, tactile quality. Rather than reflecting light with brilliance, the porcelain gently absorbs and diffuses it, allowing the surface to glow with subtle luminosity. As natural light changes throughout the day, every element catches it differently, creating an ever-changing landscape of delicate highlights, deep shadows and quiet transitions.
The composition shifts between areas of softness and moments of dramatic relief. Gentle undulations invite the eye to slow down, while deeper folds and contours reveal themselves gradually as the light moves across the work. This constant dialogue between light and shadow gives the sculpture a quiet sense of movement, despite its stillness.
The making of each piece is a slow, contemplative process. Every porcelain element is individually formed and carefully positioned over many hours, building the sculpture through repetition, patience and attention.
