Blooming is a contemporary porcelain wall sculpture that explores the relationship between movement, repetition and stillness. Composed of hundreds of individually hand formed porcelain elements, the work captures gentle rhythm found in nature, creating an organic composition that invites a sense of calm and contemplation.
Although static, the composition suggests movement- the quiet unfurling of nature over time, soothing waves lapping at the shore, or the feeling of gentle currents of air moving through a landscape, allowing each viewer to discover their own connection to the piece.
The layered forms create a subtle flow across the surface, allowing light and shadow to continually transform the sculpture through out the day. Each hand shaped element of naturally unglazed porcelain, enhances the purity of the work, some cast natural soft shadows, others catch and hold the light within their form.
